With over 25 years experience, Doug Ford is widely known as a leading public consultation resource, and has planned, developed and implemented a large and diverse number of successful public consultation programs for many of Canada's largest companies. Doug has participated as an expert witness with respect to public consultation and communications at two National Energy Board (NEB) hearings. In addition, he has served as an expert witness in a legal review at the Quebec Court of Appeals, regarding pipeline consultation thresholds and practices. Doug also has extensive Alberta and BC, EUB and OGC regulatory experience.
With more than 15 of his 25 years' experience in corporate communications, public affairs and public engagement programs in senior management roles, Alan Roth is a highly skilled practitioner with exceptional business acumen. He has provided executive level communications counsel and leadership for a wide range of successful businesses. His professional focus areas include strategic planning and implementation for stakeholder relations programs, public issues identification and management, public consultation, corporate communications, risk communications, crisis communications planning and media relations.
Kathleen Long brings more than a decade of experience in stakeholder engagement and communications planning to Communica’s team. She has considerable experience stickhandling high impact and issue-sensitive public engagement projects in the public sector, and specializes in conducting strategic communications and consultation planning, facilitation of group and team meetings, and developing full suites of communications materials. Kathleen’s previous work in municipal government and a career as a journalist in Alberta and British Columbia has given her an edge in media relations planning, understanding of urban and rural audiences, and a breadth of knowledge of many industries.
Lisa has extensive experience with stakeholder, media and government relations. In the last 15 years, she has worked with a host of high profile Alberta resource development companies, most recently serving as Manager, Communications and Engagement with the Canadian Society for Unconventional Gas. Lisa is familiar with provincial and federal energy development regulations and directives and has worked collaboratively with organizations such as the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
Chad Ford is a communications and consultation support advisor with Communica. Chad is a University of Alberta graduate, with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science. He is also an Afghanistan veteran from his time with the Canadian Forces. Chad has been with Communica since January 2007 where he has been involved in a variety of projects and the restructuring of the company.
Emma's experience in public consultation and program planning spans several years in both the non-profit and corporate sectors, most recently from Trident Exploration Corp. Emma's education in Business Management at Acadia University and her IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation, together with her strong personal skill set, make for a solid understanding of business and consultation best practices for a wide range of sectors. In addition, Emma’s expertise in stakeholder engagement planning provides additional capacity and field support to Communica's clients.
Dan Harrington has been the operations manager at Communica since 2002. His responsibilities include: overseeing accounting, contracts, finance, and corporate governance. Dan was the former vice-president of human resources and corporate affairs as well as the General Counsel for Gainers Inc. He brings a wealth of corporate experience and a highly analytical mindset to the Communica team.
Steven Curson is a communications and marketing professional with more than 15 years experience creating and delivering messages that have impact. At Communica, he works with our clients to develop messaging strategies and content for distribution across a range of media, from print and video to digital formats. He also provides public and media relations support. As a senior writer and communications strategist for a leading Calgary-based communications company he worked with a blue chip roster of clients, including the Government of Alberta, Sanofi-Aventis, Canadian Pacific, Royal Bank and Shell Canada.
Zoë Carlson is based in Vancouver, where Communica opened an office in the first quarter of 2008. In her recent role as Manager of Aboriginal Relations for the Petroleum Resources Branch of Natural Resources Canada, Zoë was responsible for developing and implementing complex Aboriginal engagement strategies throughout British Columbia. She has 14 years experience working directly with First Nations, industry, and community organizations and has developed and implemented strategic approaches in the forestry, mining, and oil and gas sectors.
Having graduated from the University of Calgary and with more than twenty years experience in the petroleum and power industries, most recently as Manager, Administration for Montana Alberta Tie Ltd., Jo-Anne has extensive experience in natural gas marketing, contract administration, supervisory development, human resources and payroll management areas. Jo-Anne oversees all administrative functions within Communica and manages stakeholder contact record-keeping databases, toll free line monitoring and Stakeholder Mail Inc.’s integration into our consultation service offerings.
